Lady Whistledown has spoken. A secret Bridgerton ball is happening. And even humble nobodies like you and me can attend!
The highlight of the social calendar (for anyone who able to visit England, at least) begins in November in an undisclosed location in London, announced on Thursday after several teaser Instagram posts by Secret Cinema, an immersive film event company in the UK.
The company has made headlines for their high-production events at secret city locations for fan favourites like Romeo + Juliet, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Alien, Casino Royale, and Stranger Things, which also saw a spinoff “drive-into cinema” event in Los Angeles during the coronavirus pandemic.
This time, in collaboration with Shondaland and Netflix, the experience will be themed around Shonda Rhimes’s wildly popular horny period drama, Bridgerton.
“It is with great pleasure and much excitement this author shares the news of a most anticipated society ball arriving to our fair city this autumn,” reads a letter penned by Lady Whistledown herself. “In an undisclosed location, away from the discerning eyes of the Ton, it is said to be the one ball of the year where anything goes.”
According to the announcement, the night will comprise of a three-hour immersive experience involving wining and dining with “esteemed members of the Ton” and an evening of “music, mingling, and perhaps other less refined activities.” Gosh, whatever could that mean?
Yes, you will be required to don your best Bridgerton-inspired get-up, as “guests are expected to adhere to the dress code to fully enjoy their night and enrich other guests’ experience,” and Secret Cinema will be selling costumes and accessories through the website.
Invitations to the ball (also known as tickets!) will be available on July 6 and you can register now if you want to make sure you’re there.
You shall go to the ball!
